More about the Standards Review Program

The Standards Review Program provides an exciting opportunity for museums and galleries to assess their practices against the National Standards for Australian Museums and Galleries.

Through a process of self-review and external feedback, organisations review their operations and policies standards of museum practice in governance, collection management, and public access and participation.

The program aims to establish a long-term network for sustainable community museums and galleries as well as acknowledge the hard work undertaken by volunteers and paid staff to maintain Australian cultural heritage.

The Standards Review Program is designed to recognise standards already achieved, act as a ‘health check’, allow participants to plan their own direction and strengthen community support and regional networks.
