Native Title Business: Contemporary Indigenous Art presents diverse works from sixty of Australia's contemporary Indigenous artists from all States and the Northern Territory, addressing the issue of Native Title Claim.
Works include paintings, prints, photography, mixed media, installation, carving, textile and ceramic works, reflecting the dynamic diversity of contemporary Indigenous arts practice today and particularly relating each artist's connection to Country. The exhibition presents artists in all stages of their careers, from more traditional communities to urban-based, younger and older; with an equal representation of female artists who continue to come to prominence as major artists and spokespeople for their communities.
Native Title Business has been generously supported by the Gurang Land Council, Central Queensland University, Queensland South Central Native Title Land Council, Arts Queensland and Visions of Australia. Visions of Australia is the Commonwealth Government's national touring exhibitions grant program, assisting with the touring of cultural exhibitions across Australia. Other funding partners include: ATSI fund of the Australia Council, Besen Family Foundation, National Native Title Tribunal, ATSIC, Gambling Machine Community Benefit Fund, Multicultural Affairs Queensland and the Commonwealth Regional Arts Fund.
