Mentorship, International Fellowship and Internship Program

Due to the impacts of COVID–19, M&G QLD is postponing the delivery of our Mentorship, International Fellowship and Internship Program. Understandably, it is not viable for M&G QLD to be discussing placements with national and international host organisations and mentors at this time.

Thank you to everyone who registered their expression of interest in the Program by the closing date. M&G QLD will be in direct contact with you at a later date to advise of revised timeframes.

About the program

With the support of the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, M&G QLD is offering a Mentorship, International Fellowship and Internship Program for paid staff and volunteers working in Queensland public museums and galleries.

The Program makes possible opportunities for staff and volunteers to access expertise in cultural institutions within Australia and overseas, to learn from leading industry professionals and to build lasting networks.

Programs available

In 2020–2021, M&G QLD will offer three types of programs. For full-time or part-time paid professionals in Queensland public galleries and museums, two programs with a total of six opportunities will be offered:

  • Gallery or Museum Mentorship: 4 opportunities at $3,000 each
  • International Fellowship: 2 opportunities at $6,000 each

For volunteers in Queensland public museums or galleries, one program is offered:

  • Volunteer Internship for museums or galleries: 4 opportunities at $3,000 each

The 2020–2021 Mentorship, International Fellowship and Internship Program Guidelines and Application Forms are available to download at right, in ‘fillable’ PDF format or in Word format.

Check the Guidelines for eligibility to apply to the Program.

Closing dates

Potential applicants must contact M&G QLD to register an Expression of Interest between 28 January and 28 February 2020

(Please do not contact us outside of these dates, and please read the Guidelines and Application Form prior to making contact.)

M&G QLD will assist you to identify an appropriate mentor and host organisation. You will then be invited to submit the completed Application Form by 30 April 2020. Do not commence this application or contact a prospective host venue until you have spoken with either M&G QLD’s Executive Director or General Manager.

Successful applicants will undertake their Mentorship, International Fellowship or Internship placement over a two-week period between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021.
