The Standards Review Program supports museums and galleries in a continuous improvement process and builds a community of museums and galleries working towards best practice and long-term viability as valued community assets.
Through a process of self-review and external feedback, organisations review their operations and policies against standards of museum practice in governance, collection management, conservation practices and public access and participation according to the National Standards for Australian Museums and Galleries.
The program aims to establish a long-term network for sustainable community museums and galleries, as well as acknowledging the hard work undertaken by volunteers and paid staff to maintain Australian cultural heritage.
The program is designed to recognise standards already achieved, act as a 'health check', allow participants to plan their own direction and strengthen community support and regional networks.
It is FREE to participate in the Program.
The Standards Review Program has been developed in partnership with Museums & Galleries of NSW.
