YOU ARE HERE 2 (The Incredible Lightness of Being)

Susan Lincoln has a rich connection to regional and rural Australia, and it is the nostalgia and familial connection to these places that has left a signature mark on her artworks over the last decade.

About the exhibition

From Susan’s childhood memories of being spellbound by the light refractions around the room from her mother’s crystal bracelet in the unique light of outback Queensland, to the heartbeat performance video enacted by Susan and her daughter, YOU ARE HERE 2 (The Incredible Lightness of Being) exhibits the lived experience of the bonds of motherhood and family.

Susan’s artworks are fixed in the ideologies of the feminine, and play with the idea of secular spirituality. To be in the presence of Susan’s work is to understand the artist’s desire to promote an experiential or immersive experience; one which is rooted in philosophy, memory and reflection.
