The Bundaberg and District Historical and Museum Society Inc. collects and preserves the heritage of the Bundaberg region. The original Museum’s collections may have been dispersed in the 1940s but the current Museum keeps memories alive by displaying the heritage associated with the Bundaberg’s many industries and its social life. The extensive photographic and archival collections include a wealth of local knowledge from the 1800s to the present day; capturing, amongst other things, people’s lives, buildings and events. The archives are available for research and can be accessed by anyone for a small fee. The collection includes significant objects such as the “World Quilt” sewn in 1933 by Margurite Vuichoud; the unique Lucke Quad’s Cyclops designed pram, as well as a magnificent display of birds collected locally and taxidermied by Charles Skyring in the 1870s.
