Jessie’s Cottage was built by the Taylor Family in 1899, having emigrated from Scotland. The family moved to settle in Murphys Creek in 1879 and four of their five children were born and went to school in Murphys Creek. The cottage was restored by the Murphys Creek Neighbourhood Centre in 1996-7 and used by the community until 2011, when the cottage was opened to the public.
