The Clermont Historical Centre is located approximately 2km north of Clermont along the Peak Downs highway. It contains a variety of objects relating to the settler, mining, and pastoral history of Clermont and the Peak Downs. Highlights include the restored Aveling & Porter Traction Steam Engine used to relocate the town of Clermont to higher ground after the devastating 1916 flood; the famous sniper Billy Sing’s medals; and a violin belonging to Rose Harris, one of the first female saddlers in Australia.
