Geoff Moore

For almost two decades, Geoff Moore has led the development of NSIMM to become a professionally operated local museum. Valued by its community, the Museum has gained national recognition, including the ABC Radio National Regional Museums Award in 2009; M&G QLD’s GAMAA award in 2015; and Museums and Galleries National Award (MAGNA) in 2016.

Geoff has been instrumental in pulling people together; using his abilities and personal connections to communicate effectively, to influence politicians, business and non-government groups in the cause of the Museum. This has been integral to the Museum’s ongoing capital growth and long-term sustainability.

Geoff’s leadership skills were also highlighted when the Museum become the custodian, in partnership with the Walker family, of The Oodgeroo of the Tribe Noonuccal Custodian of the Land Minjerribah Collection Management Deed. This is of national and international significance.
