More information about Australian Sugar Heritage Centre

The Centre celebrates the industry’s multicultural heritage. It records the experiences and contribution of South Seas Islanders and Asian and European migrants. It answers the questions of growing, harvesting sugarcane and then the conversion into crystal sugar. It is the destination that provides all the answers. The displays explain modern processes and also the historical aspects spanning over 150 years.

Come and explore the rich heritage from the days of plantations and South Seas Islander labour, horse-drawn farming implements, cane-cutting gangs, and steam-driven locos. You will be fascinated at the development that took place in Australia of the mechanical harvesters.
