More information about Gold Coast Historical Museum Inc

The site was originally an Aboriginal gathering place and then a cemetery for pioneer Bundall Sugar Mill workers.

Spend time in the John Elliott Building which houses a treasure-trove of local history items, such as Cable Station equipment which was in operation from 1902; the Paula Stafford Bikini Collection worn in the 1950s; items from the Scottish Prince which was wrecked off Stradbroke Island 1887; and over one thousand photographs, newspapers, maps and development plans of the Gold Coast area.

Wander through the Steam Engines Building and Dolan’s Barn which houses machinery and tools from early timber cutter days and agriculture; visit the Early Settlers cottage and the Vincent Sheldon Art Studio.

Or just join our lovely volunteers for a cuppa and a chat.
