More information about Taroom Museum

Follow explorer Ludwig Leichhardt’s 1844 footsteps into the rich farming country around the Dawson River and visit the Taroom Museum.

Our diverse collections include objects from early businesses, a Blacksmith’s forge, and a fabulous piece of jewellery belonging to Sarah, wife of John Becker the Bootmaker c1870. Experience a 19th century round pole and slab house, which was the Reynolds’ home and also the township’s general store. Feel what it was like to be confined in the original Taroom lockup. You can also see a variety of machinery from pioneering days.
