More about UMI Arts
UMI Arts is a not-for-profit First Nations arts and cultural organisation based in Far North Queensland, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to strengthen culture, build skills, and grow sustainable creative careers.
Since 2005, UMI Arts has created pathways for artists at every stage of their journey through culturally grounded programs, workshops, exhibitions, and professional development opportunities. Its work is guided by the belief that culture is kept strong when people work together, and it provides a welcoming space where artists can learn, create, share stories, and connect with community.
Through its Side by Side workshops, pathway programs, annual exhibitions, major art fairs, gallery and gift shop, and onsite studio, UMI Arts gives member artists practical opportunities to develop their practice and share their work with wider audiences. Artists can take part in intensive skills-building workshops, prepare for exhibitions, access studio equipment and materials, consign work for sale, and be considered for commissions, collaborative projects, and public events. Members are also promoted through print, broadcast, and social media, helping raise their profile locally and nationally while creating real opportunities for artistic, cultural, and professional growth.
