Collection Management 101 Workshop: Understanding and managing museum collections
About the event
M&G QLD is running a free Collection Management 101 Workshop in November 2024 in the Sunshine Coast local government area.
Presenter: Josh Tarrant, Senior Museum Development Officer – South East Queensland Region
The workshop will provide museums, galleries and other relevant community groups with an overview of collection management principles, including cataloguing, storage and collection handling.

About the Presenter
Josh Tarrant is part of the Queensland Museum Network’s Museum Development Officer (MDO) Program and based in Ipswich, Queensland.
Josh assists community-focused organisations with the management and interpretation of their museums and collections.
Josh has worked in a range of regional and metropolitan museums throughout Australia. He uses his curatorial and collection management experience to help groups to engage communities and unlock the potential of their collections. His approach is outcome oriented and is responsive to the unique environments and dynamics of the groups he works with.
This workshop is part of M&G QLD’s Museum and Gallery Recovery and Preparedness Workshop Series. Aimed at staff and volunteers from public museums, galleries and their communities, the Series of workshops covers Collection Management, Mental Health & Wellbeing, and Contemporary Collecting
