Securing Funding Workshop

M&G QLD is running a free Securing Funding workshop on 20 and 21 March 2024, at The Centre, Beaudesert.

About the event

This workshop aims to enhance the capacity of museum and gallery staff and volunteers in securing funding. Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Speak face-to-face with funding bodies;
  • Enhance their funding application skills;
  • Identify the right source of funds for their projects;
  • Learn about alternative sources of funding; and
  • Hear case studies of successful grant applications and fundraising. 

Funding Body Representatives include:

  • Fiona Clarke, Assistant Director, Community Heritage Grants, National Library of Australia;
  • Toma Dim, Acting Director, Grants Assurance Team, Strategy and Programs, Arts Queensland;
  • April Merrick, Grants Manager for NSW/ACT, Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR)
  • Lacey Sawtell, Community Development Officer, Scenic Rim Regional Council; and
  • Mark Paddick, Cultural Projects Officer: Public Art, RADF and Heritage Scenic Rim Regional Council.

Other speakers include:

  • Tracey Kelly, Supervisor – Tourism Facilities, Bundaberg Regional Council, on the success story in securing funding for the significance assessment of Hinkler Hall of Aviation’s collection;
  • Edith Cuffe, OAM, former Director of Abbey Museum of Art & Archaeology and Abbey Medieval Festival, sharing her extensive experience with crowdfunding;
  • Stephen Coppard, M&G QLD Business Manager, on preparing a budget;
  • Dandan Feng, M&G QLD Training & Professional Development Officer, on designing a project, finding the right grant for your project and preparing a grant application;
  • Madeleine Green, M&G QLD Training & Professional Development Officer on crowdfunding.
