The Agnes Water Museum showcases the Discovery Coast’s Amazing History: James Cook’s 1770 visit to Bustard Bay in the Endeavour; The 2nd landing and investigations on Australian soil; Local plants found by botanist Joseph Banks and his team. Stories of the Miriam Vale Shire; Aboriginal artifacts, bark paintings; Plus many, many, more items of historical interest.

The Original Museum was built alongside the Agnes Water homestead in 1952. This building housed Arthur Jeffery’s extensive collection of items from the beach, the bush and Arthurs travels around Australia and the World. Arthur donated his collection to the Miriam Vale Shire in 1988. The New Museum facility was developed as a Bicentenial project and officially opened in 1990. Arthur’s original timber building was renovated and relocated to Springs Road, in 1996.
