This creative hub was once robust warehouses for the bustling port of Maryborough. The warehouses are among the oldest in Maryborough and have been sensitively restored to preserve the historic value of the buildings, while creating a contemporary exhibition and creative space.

Gatakers Artspace, located, in Gatakers Lane, is a contemporary exhibition space with four galleries hosting regular exhibitions of local and visiting artists.

The Studio located on Kent Street, supports creativity within the local community with pop-up exhibitions, a printmaking studio, creative workshops and a retail shop offering unique artisan products.

Both buildings are operated by Fraser Coast Regional Council.

Gatakers Artspace is thought to be the second oldest building in Maryborough, constructed in 1868 by Samuel Smith and Linklater & Thompson. 311 Kent Street was built as a store for the owner of the land, Robert Travis, of the wholesale and retail firm, Robert Travis and Co.

In 2007, it was purchased by Council who undertook extensive renovations to convert the building into a multi-purpose arts facility. Gatakers Artspace opened in March 2010.
