Artspace Mackay is a regional art gallery, owned and operated by Mackay Regional Council. It is a purpose-built and award-winning architecturally designed building, and was opened in 2003.More information
Greenmount Homestead is perhaps Mackay’s most historically significant site with over 20,000 pieces of history on display.More information
The library’s Heritage Collection, located in the Carmel Daveson Research Room at Mackay City Library, houses an extensive range of historical and current resources relating to the development of the Mackay Region.

Queensland Maritime Museum houses a fascinating collection of maritime artefacts that represent many aspects of Queensland’s rich maritime heritage.
Located near Townsville’s impressive Castle Hill, visitors experience the rich heritage of the city during their tour of the historic home ‘Currajong’ and the ‘Worker’s Cottage’.
A large collection of everyday objects, historical machinery and photographs, tells the story of life in the area over time and illustrates the excitement of Charters Towers’ development since the discovery of gold in 1871.

Central Western Queensland region
Welcomed by the impressive bronze statue of the ringer, symbolic of rural heritage, the visitor is taken on a journey into the heart of Australia.
The gallery provides an attractive and well-designed venue for local and touring exhibitions.
Emerald Art Gallery provides the local community with a high profile exhibition space, located in the Central Highlands Regional Council offices in Emerald.
Grassland Art Gallery has a rotating exhibition program of locally produced and curated displays, regional artists and touring exhibitions. More information
A hidden gem, the Longreach Powerhouse Museum boasts a state-registered heritage complex that showcases the rare technology of gas-fired electrical generation.
The museum has a variety of exhibits, interactive displays, artefacts and aircraft including a Boeing 747, Boeing 707 and DC3.
Operating since 1972, Qantilda is now part of the Waltzing Matilda Centre complex, showcasing an extensive and diverse collection drawn almost exclusively from the Winton region.More information
Ram Park is an historical complex located in the main street of Blackall which hosts a number of relocated buildings, important to the region.

Skilled members of the Bundaberg Steam Tramway Preservation Society Inc carry out maintenance and restoration of the locomotives largely on site.

Eidsvold Historical Complex is located in country redolent with memories of sheep, cattle and gold mining days from families whose descendants still live in the district. More information

The Monto Historical and Cultural Complex is a well presented facility, with a pleasant garden frontage located on one of the main thoroughfares into Monto.
Situated in the original 1880s Mt Perry Shire Council Chambers, the Mt Perry Museum houses a collection of heritage objects specific to Mt Perry and the surrounding districts.
The bustling town of Childers in the North Burnett was first opened up to timber-getting during the 1850s and 1860s. As the township developed, it drew Thomas Gaydon, who opened the chemist shop in the town in 1894. More information

The site is recognised for the rarity and intactness of the surviving steam haulage machinery, which surpasses any other mining place in Queensland.More information

Mareeba Heritage Centre is a vibrant museum and tourist information centre established in 1995 and well supported by its diverse multicultural community.
The Mareeba Historic Society was formed in 1993 to seek out, preserve and conserve the history of all areas encompassed by the original Mareeba Shire as well as neighbouring towns and shires.More information
Nature’s PowerHouse is a large interpretive centre, stunningly located in the beautiful, heritage listed Cooktown Botanic Gardens.
The Tableland Regional Gallery was established in March 2008 to promote regional art and to encourage both emerging and professional artists.

In 1883 the Diamantina Orphanage was the first building on the land, then from 1893-97 it became a residence for the quieter patients from the Goodna Asylum, and in 1898 a Reformatory for boys.

The Queensland Police Museum includes 25 displays describing police heritage, Queensland crimes, police investigative techniques, medals, the history of police women, operational equipment and transport, amongst others. More information

Chinchilla Historical Museum is dedicated to the natural resources of the Chinchilla area and the history of their use.
Discover Eumundi Heritage and Visitor Centre is housed in the old Methodist Church and is one of the most visited museums on the Sunshine Coast with an estimated 10,000 visitors per year.More information

The Miles Historical Village was officially opened in 1971, and over the years has developed into one of the premier tourist attractions within the region.More information
Milne Bay Military Museum, the official 25/49 Battalion History Room as recognised by the Army History Unit, began as a collection of artefacts belonging to 25th Battalion veterans who had served during World War I and II and in the Battle of Milne Bay in 1942.
Opened in November 1987, Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery came into being from the hard work and dedication of the Stanthorpe Art Gallery Society, created in 1972. More information

Gold Coast and Scenic Rim regions
Beaudesert Historical Society, a volunteer organisation, was founded in 1961 to collect and record the history of the shire. More information
Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum has over 20 buildings on site with historical significance to the local area.
The grounds were the site of an Aboriginal gathering place and are positioned on a remaining section of an extensive section of a sand dune that was formed 120,000 years ago. More information
The Museum buildings are mainly split slab and galvanised iron and have been re-erected. These have been adapted for use as exhibition spaces for historical displays and art.
The collection relates to local history including pioneering families, pioneering women, timber & dairying industries, and artifacts from the local region since settlement from the 1860s onwards.
The Tamborine Mountain Heritage Centre is dedicated specifically to the history of Tamborine Mountain.
The Upper Clarence Historical Society was established to collect and record the history of the region and to provide a resource of knowledge, ideas, stories and memories of its early settlers.
The Yugambeh Museum is committed to the conservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of the traditional Aboriginal people of the Yugambeh Language Region.

Far North Queensland region
The Cairns Museum, part of Cairns Historical Society, is housed in the School of Arts building, one of the oldest heritage listed buildings in Cairns. More information
The Cairns and District Chinese Association is the custodian of the Lit Sung Goong Temple Collection, a significant collection of over 240 items from the temple which operated in Cairns between 1886 and 1964.
Croydon True Blue Heritage Centre has a Croydon family genealogy database dating from 1886, a movie shown in the theatrette and more museum information and archives. It has sculptures, machinery, antique cars and mining architecture in its botanical gardens.
The Lit Sing Gung Temple is an original art deco building constructed in 1940 by the renowned construction firm the Romano Bros. after the original Temple was badly damaged in several cyclones, flood and fire.
The Cassowary Coast Library houses the Innisfail Heritage Collection which consists of photographs and printed works related to the history of the Johnstone Shire area or created by residents of the shire.
The museum displays objects, photographs and stories relating to the settlers of the then Mulgrave Shire. More information

Kingaroy’s landmark “Peanut Silos” tower over the Museum, creating a magnet for the visitor seeking information about these giants and the industry they symbolise.
The museum and research collections relate to all aspects of the history of the Landsborough area, and are open and accessible to everyone.
The Logan City Historical Museum Society Inc, a volunteer organisation, shares the old Kingston Butter Factory building with a Craft Centre, performance space and a refreshment kiosk.
The museum demonstrates a tradition of close reciprocal support between the Ambulance Service and the community.
The Museum and research collections relate to all aspects of the history of the Redland Shire from 1842 until the present.More information
